CORE was contracted to provide a pilot migration of the legacy Amisys LLC application to a new Java Application software platform through the use of the CORE Chameleon Migration Solution (CCMS). The result allowed Amisys to migrate their product offering to a new technology paradigm including Java Application, Java Server, Oracle 9i and PL/SQL.
The migration to the Java platform maintained the existing business functionality resident in the legacy application, while providing Amisys with all of the benefits associated with the Java technology including a new, powerful and intuitive Graphical User Interface. In addition to completing the migration project, CORE was tasked with researching and developing:
- Interfaces to the existing Cobol programs
- Java application calls from the existing PowerHouse application
- PowerHouse calls from within the Java application
CORE provided automated migration capabilities including design recovery, forward engineering, unit testing and technical expertise.
During the project CORE provided ten (10) resources working in various technical project areas including Project Management services, informatics project planning, scheduling, administration and regular status reporting.
CORE provided application architecture development, application specification, prototype and pilot development, COTS drivers and APIs evaluation, design, development testing and pilot implementation/installation, and support to ensure the interoperability between the Amisys legacy systems and the new Java environment.
The new Java platform allowed the client to take advantage of new technologies and operating environments to enhance the usability and functionality of the system. CORE was instrumental in researching new mechanisms for security, platform analysis and support and developing Web based applications to allow greater user access.
